1. Generally recovery from whiplash type injuries takes longer than people expect,
so be patient and see your doctor every few weeks.

2. See your doctor as soon as possible after the accident, so you can follow your
doctor’s advice with respect to recuperation

3. Try to get all the names, addresses and telephone numbers of all parties and witnesses who were at the scene of the accident.

4. Witnesses need to be contacted after the accident as soon as possible to get a written statement. Their memory of what happened will fade over time. We can help make sure you get the witness statements you need.

5. As soon as possible after the accident, sit down and make a note to yourself as
to how this accident occurred. You will forget things too.

6. If possible, take pictures of the site where the accident took place.

8. Keep a diary of your injuries. It is not necessary to be too detailed, but short
notes about how you feel, what medicines you are taking and the doctors you are
seeing on an ongoing basis will be helpful later, especially if the recovery takes
a considerable period of time.

9. Remember, memories fade quickly. Some short written notes may prove very helpful
when dealing with ICBC or preparing for trial.
